NIGSD has adopted a strategic framework building on its current and anticipated strengths and opportunities. It has focused on designing the services to meet the specific needs of governmental organizations.

The Arab Republic of Egypt is going through an exceptional stage where the government is introducing many reforms in various fields and is developing visions for our future aspirations and the achievements we seek to achieve for the generations to come.

Developing human resources is an integral part of reform. Believing in the pivotal role of civil servants to implement these reforms and the importance of preparedness to the responsibilities they will assume, there is a need for a robust entity supporting this process of change.
In this regard, the role of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD) is underscored, being the training arm of the Ministry of Planning, and economic development , which is concerned with developing and enhancing human resources in the Government of Egyptian (GoE). NIGSD has assumed the responsibility of change and adopted a new approach to development and service provision, hoping to become a global knowledge center and play an effective role in the implementation of national strategies; mainly the Sustainable Development Strategy: Egypt’s Vision 2030. Therefore, it gives me pleasure to present the NIGSD’s annual report, which includes the most prominent achievements during 2018/2019 and the most important steps taken as part of internal reform and revitalization of NIGSD.
NIGSD has adopted a strategic framework building on its current and anticipated strengths and opportunities. It has focused on designing the services to meet the specific needs of governmental organizations, as well as on the service delivery techniques, particularly by utilizing technological advancements that have become an indispensable catalyst in development. Adopting these programs offered by the Institute ensures a high-quality level that lives up to the expectations, meets the current requirements of governmental organizations and contributes to national projects implemented on a large scale.
In addition, the Institute has realized that partnerships with relevant local and international institutions must be built in order to expand its expertise and benefit from prestigious scientific institutions that have made significant strides in training, capacity building, education, research and consultancy. In addition, it realized the need for stronger regional relations, especially with African countries, with Egypt’s presidency of the African Union. This shall serve as a good opportunity to share successful practices with countries that share similar conditions and have been able to overcome their challenges.
Finally, I would like to thank all partners who have supported the Institute or formed productive partnerships therewith. Thanks must, in the first place, go to the Institute’s staff, who have exerted great efforts and participated in the change process so that the Institute becomes the training destination of government employees. The large number of government employees, the specificity of this stage and the momentum of reform and development, require the existence of NIGSD’s competent staff in order to fulfill the challenging responsibility they bear. Therefore, we all hope to prosper for the common good and that our efforts will be successful.
